The Route was a variation of the Chamonix to Zermatt theme for walkers, going only as far as Arolla. The first half of the route was a 6-day section from Le Brévent to Orsières, through the Aiguilles Rouges and the northern part of the Mont Blanc Massif, camping in the mountains all the way. It included an ascent of Aiguille Crochues (2837) from Lac Blanc and culminated in an ascent of Pointe d’Orny, at 3270 m the most northerly 3000 m peak in the Mont Blanc Massif. The second half started in the head of Val de Bagnes before the long glacier crossing via the Cabane des Dix to Arolla in Val d’Hérens. There was a 2-day circuit to the Cabane de Pannossière which included an ascent of Grand Tavé (3158). The final 4-day section was via the Chanrion and Dix huts to Arolla, and included a whole-day excursion to Mont Avril (3347) an ascent of Mont Rouge du Giétro (3439) and a crossing of the Giétro and Cheilon glaciers.

This was the first illustrated Foreign Trek Log I completed in 2015, which is when I gave a pdf copy to MGS for including in the archives. Since then I have completed 13 others from 1980 to 2005, with 9 others still to be done. My page layout and image editing skills have improved with years of practice. When I learn how to do it (or somebody does it for me) I would like all the FT Logs to appear in MGS Life. In the meantime the collection can be found at wittonmgstreks.com.
