Year 13 boys win national engineering award

Huge congratulatons to Year 13 pupils Xander Mills, Basit Khan, Ayman Shaikh, Chau Yang, Louis Chen and Sammy Miller Green, who won first prize in a prestigious design competition.

Over the summer, the boys were on an engineering work experience placement at Arup, a global firm that provides design, engineering, architecture, planning and advisory services across every aspect of the built environment. The company have 90 offices across 35 countries around the world

The boys entered the firm’s Design Programme challenge, and were given a brief to design a multi-use, site development scheme located behind Manchester’s Victoria Station.

As a team the boys produced a masterplan and presented it to Arup bosses in a 20-minute presentation. Competing against several other schools, Arup selected the boys as having the best proposal and awarded them first place.

This is a fantastic achievement by the boys!

(L-R): Basit Khan, Ayman Shaikh, Xander Mills, Chau Yang, Louis Chen and Sammy Miller Green.
